Last quarter, we had a fantastic contest featuring a rare gem from Jack's archive: a previously unopened Dead Weather hand-painted 7" from Third Man Records' inaugural party back in 2009. We had so much fun doing it that we decided we should make it a thing again this quarter, but this time, we'll be looking into the deep, dark, probably-vermin-ridden wormhole that is head production manager Ben Blackwell's closet. And Ben has really outdone himself with this one.

Back in 2010, Third Man made its first trip down to Austin for South-by-Southwest. This was a time before the Rolling Record Store, before any showcases at drafty, red-dirt warehouses and clearly before Jack would give Texans a glimpse of his potential solo projects. But, in classic Third Man fashion, it was to be a very special event. So, Ben Blackwell developed a way to make "Texas-sized" 13" LP and 8" single vinyl records of popular TMR titles at the time. A couple hundred of these were pressed at United Record Pressing and each white inner sleeve was hand-branded by a seriously unlucky intern. Then, they were sold in Austin for a few days, and never heard from again. Until now.

So, we will be sending one lucky Vault member all three of the Texas-sized 13" LPs -- including The Raconteurs "Broken Boy Soldiers," The White Stripes "DeStijl" and "White Blood Cells." Photos posted below.

And just the same as last quarter, all current Vault members will be have their name automatically entered into this contest. Also definitely worth noting, any Vault member who successfully gets a friend to purchase a Platinum Vault membership between now and Saturday, October 31 at midnight CST will have an additional 50 entries into this contest. The new Platinum Vault member (your friend) will automatically be given one entry as well.

You can enter by sending an email to: vaultcontests@thirdmanrecords.com. To be entered successfully, you must include your first and last name as well as the name and email address of the friend that signed up for a Platinum Vault membership thanks to your recommendation. All entries will be double-checked to ensure that the referred party's Platinum Vault subscription has been activated during this brief period of time. Then, on Monday, November 2, we will use a randomizer to pick one Platinum Vault member as the winner, announce it on the Vault site and ship the 3 LPs with an insane amount of packing material. Probably in a fireproof box or a safe. Who knows.
