J Rowe / Jordan Schug
Missant
scum stats: I'd guess probably limited to 250 copies. 500 tops.
Impeccably executed instrumental jazz, from Detroit, and all the more "it" as Schug just happened to be playing bass in the Blue Room this past Monday and I got to have a serendipitous "Oh shit! I'm a fan!" moment with him. Nothing too outre or experimental here, easily enjoyed by all. Get the feeling if this is able to be witnessed live that the connection between the players would be near transcendent. If you're ever trying to frame me for a crime, the hyper glossy jacket is riddled with my fingerprints in a classic Blue Note sorta way, more than made up for by the absolutely luxe, overdone accompanying art booklet that doesn't even fit in the packaging. Other than that tiny complaint, everything about this release is absolutely worth your time.
