BLACKWELL'S RECORD OF THE WEEK + GIVEAWAY!

No Name

scum stats: wouldn't you like to know?

I can't say it any better than the countless number of fans already have, so let's get to the juicy part.

I'm giving away a copy of the rubber-stamped "No Name" at random to a comment posted here before midnight central time, August 8th.

Maybe your comment has something to do with names, or no names, or maybe it's just smart or funny or clever. Don't make me have to spell it out, jeez. I mean, if it's truly the best comment ever, maybe I dig out a test pressing of "No Name" for the winner. No pressure.

Oh and btw 19th July was my birthday

I agree with all the disgruntled loyal vault members. Completely left in the dark and no way to get these items without paying big bucks to the flippers. Very disappointed tbh.

Heck yes the closing date has gone but that’s basically what it feels like to be a UK vault member all the time. Drops on working / school days make A drop everything trip to London a non starter so I get to witness No Name social scrambles and a request to the shop direct is a sound (but polite) no. Might as well just enter competitions after they close.

My name can’t be found in gift shops amongst the souvenir key rings.
A friend brought me a personalised mug but instead of my name it read ‘They didn’t have one with my name on’.
I would love a No Name to be a no name with.
(But I’d take a ‘Freiny’ keyring if you ever find one).

David M when you give praise where praise is due it is also reasonable for people to give criticism when criticism is due. I would love to be hearing the sound of the needle hitting the vinyl of Jack’s new album but despite paying £80/ quarter for what is essentially a fan club the only chance I have of doing that for the foreseeable is by paying £100+ to someone who bought a copy / number of copies and by selling it sealed clearly had no interest in what they bought. Yes an artist can do whatever they want but do you think Jack’s plan was to release an album his most loyal followers would have to pay through the nose to get a copy of? I can’t afford it. I don’t want my introduction to be via streaming. And that’s before I get started on the diminishing returns of paying what is for me a lot of money to remain a vault member

It saddens me that you feel the need to be rude David M. It seems not unreasonable to me that if you sign up to the vault, TMR newsletters and JW newsletters this would be enough. I don’t have the luxury of time to regularly comment or search for information on releases.
However, I am cognisant that this is a first world problem and in the great scheme of things relatively unimportant. As I had already commented it’s is a magnificent album. It would have been nice to at the very least have had a decent chance of buying a blue copy to open and play on my turntable.

Some of the comments posted are funny, ‘shop for the tourists not music fans’. I have been on the vault and have been the only one to comment on occasions in recent months. Now, because of one record, lots more crawl out of the woodwork with such negativity.

Welcome you Vault comment tourists.

Who are we to say how an artist should go about releasing their own material. If people had pulled their heads out of their **** they could have found out about ‘No Name’ elsewhere. I did.

Only wish I was living in Detroit at the time. Not much one can do about that.

So let’s give praise where praise is due. No Name is a great record. Let’s celebrate.

Also I am looking forward to Vault #61 when it ships out.

And ‘don’t make me spell it out’ Blackwell, the test pressing of ‘No Name’.
