Idle Ray
Eternal Fade
scum stats: limited to 250 copies on yellow vinyl
So full, so vibrant, so actualized, underpinnings of the guitar lilt of Luna's "Sideshow By The Seashore" and some mild-tinged Dinosaur Jr upfront string gymnastics...I do not remember Idle Ray sounding like this. But I might be confusing them with XV. That's on me.
Mail ordered this single from a Detroit label (Salinas Records) I'd never heard of before. Inside the mailer was a note, written on a vintage 1960's "Welcome to Detroit" post card that said "Ben, I still love that Blanche record you put out" in reference to moves I'd made in my early twenties as part of my Cass Records another lifetime ago.
That little note made my day, a happy reminder that these little efforts we toss out in the to ocean of forgettable intentions are still continually being discovered and understood and appreciated. Really one of the best reasons to do this, still inspiring me to this day.
