Iggy and the Stooges
Search And Destroy b/w Penetration
scum stats: pretty damn rare
I put this one in my Discogs wantlist eight years ago and only just now have I gotten my grubby little mitts on a copy.
A stock copy of any Stooges single is an anomaly, they just really did not sell records in any notable quantity. Promos are, by comparison, plentiful and generally affordable, all things considered.
But the classic ombre red-to-orange Columbia label of the mid 70's here, pressed on a shiny styrene, damn it feels like the closest the band ever got to actually having a fighting chance. If these songs on this label couldn't make it work for them, nothing would've.
There's a Columbia promo single of "Raw Power" with "Search And Destroy" and "Penetration" on the flip side that's the last legit Stooges single I need to complete my collection. But one of those just sold a month ago for like $4000, so I'm guessing another eight years at least before I cross that one off the wantlist. I will be patient.
