In terms of youthful teenaged aping and imitation of the musical flavor that's big and of-the-moment...this might be the pinnacle of that phenomenon. Kids trying to sound like the Beatles were numbers wise massive but, largely, forgettable. I'll grant that those who were SO bad and off the mark could actually be brilliant in the Back From the Grave style. I've been fond of mid-Eighties records that were made to sound like Prince but they are hard to find. And I'm surprised there's not more examples of early Nineties Nirvana soundalikes.

Kinda feels like we might not ever have that kinda pale impersonation response in modern times, the internet fully convoluting the idea of impression and reaction and inspiration, sometimes for the better, but here for the worse.

Kudos again to the Ancient Grease team, batting 1.000 here and well worth your time and effort investigating any and all of their efforts.
