Jesse Dulman Quartet — Live at Downtown Music Gallery
scum stats: limited to 250 copies
Straight burner here. Not sure what I expected from a live recorded jazz record with tuba as the featured instrument, but I’ll be damned if I wasn’t completely compelled here. Interesting in every aspect, from the tunes, to the whip-smart cover design to the Estonian (?) label that released it in minuscule numbers. Super hot fire for the masses. Dig in…from slow New Orleans style dirges to wild free jazz style romps…this hits on many tasty realms. And I’m not even a fan of jazz.
