Natalie Bergman "I Killed A North American Songbird" EP Out November 6th
“White Oak" single + video out now

Chicago-born, Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter and producer Natalie Bergman returns with her brand new single, “White Oak.” The track, also reimagined in a remix by Kosta G, is the latest offering from her forthcoming EP, I Killed A North American Songbird, produced by Natalie Bergman and Ben Lumsdane and out 6 November on Third Man Records.

Accompanying the release is a striking music video directed by Andreas Ekelund and co-directed by Bergman, starring Sandi Denton and June Tate of Rated Z Dancers, alongside Staz Lindes of Third Man Records’ band The Paranoyds.

The EP follows Bergman’s widely acclaimed second solo album, My Home Is Not In This World, released in 2025 and awarded a 5/5 review by Shindig!. Rich in vintage textures and nostalgic sounds, the record draws on the timeless grooves of the 1960s, pairing soulful basslines with Bergman’s luminous vocals.

Her critically acclaimed 2021 solo debut, Mercy - named among The Sunday Times’ Best Albums of 2024 - explored grief and spiritual reckoning in the wake of the sudden loss of Bergman and her brother Elliot’s (both formerly of Wild Belle) father and stepmother. By contrast, My Home Is Not In This World emerged from a period of renewal and rebirth. Following the birth of her son, Arthur, in 2024, Bergman’s songwriting took on a new tenderness, finding transcendence in the profound changes of motherhood.

With I Killed A North American Songbird, Bergman turns her attention to the natural world and its increasingly fragile existence. Reflecting on the inspiration behind the EP, she explains:

This small collection of songs is inspired by the disappearance of the natural world around us — specifically the creatures that surrounded me while I was growing up, and their very obvious demise. Oaks, songbirds, salamanders, foxes...
I started to think about how I have directly contributed to their destruction in so many ways. After accidentally hitting an Indigo Bunting with my pickup truck, I made a series of blue/indigo paintings which inspired the music for this EP. It’s a direct plea to myself to continue to take care of the earth and all its inhabitants.
